Homage to a great friend.

Dear companions, we are here together for the objective that governs our of  hobby, i.e.  The friendship.

It is worth to mention that, we all here recognize the value of major conquests.

Together we want to pay a sincere and pleasant homage to one exponent of our hobby.

With your consent, I will direct my words straight to the honored member and his family.

Dear Olavo, how shall I direct to you as friend, or a brother… any treatment fits. When talking in name of the majority it becomes easy. I will treat you 'friend' for above all I put my devotion together with our slogan. Thus, my friend, it is not coincidence, not by chance, neither a dream the fact that we are here together, coming from different parts of the country, jointly to homage you.  You achieved such a remarkable goal! When paying you such homage we also benefit from your achievement – a homage directed to you is also homage to all Brazilian radio-amateurs.

This is your conquest, and we enjoy of your victory.  A leader, the example, the milestone is necessary for the goal, but you, a special human being have gotten a double attainment. You got our position and brought us all (Brazilian) along with you to partake your victory.

Olavo, dear friend, we are here together with the same feeling of admiration, or better, devotion for you represent a milestone in our struggles and conquests.

Where is the fight I am talking about? It has started from the first times of radio-amateurism. The oldies - this is acknowledgement, not a chronological reference - have practiced the real radio-amateurism. You have tasted it in such a way that the younger operators cannot imagine. The DX really DIFFICULT… DX made by the amateurs … what do you mean by amateur? You may ask me, all DX aren't made by radio-amateur? Yes, they are. But I want to mean it with a metaphor: really grab it with equipment home made, antenna sometimes oriented with the shack bulb, with the survey made by hearing, not by a modern computer which shows it promptly where we find it.  This type of DX few of us had chance to try, but who got it will never forget it…

Thus, I invite each of you here present to invoke your DX hero and to be here in thoughts.  I by my side invoke my father PP5ATO who introduced me in radio-amateurism and PY4KL his friend and great DX man, and shall say that I feel very comfortable to think in my idols, because one of them is herein, in front of me and has the indicative PY5GA.

Olavo, my friend, your world acquaintance solely materializes a life of conquests among us. But life, even when glorified by successes, is not easy. You have tried bitterness, hard challenges, but over come them, but if today you receive homage as radio-amateur, you may consider yourself acknowledged as human being because you just got your position among us because there inside of you there is an example of human being to be imitated.

Those who know you also acknowledge this fact. Those who don't know your surely believe it.

Olavo… our homage wouldn't be complete invitations were not expanded, as the poet say, "further beyond our garden".  We are all very happy…

Olavinho I didn't have the chance to know, but the destiny gave the opportunity to have his parents as my friends. Olavo, Cirene, as angels from the sky, be sure that Olavinho is here with us to partake in this simple but meaningful homage.

So, my friend, we all thank you for existing, to have by your side your spouse, and for being what you are: the example of honesty, perseverance, optimism and joy.

Finally I would say, but I don't know how to express, that the destiny some times makes a goal. In your case, it uses you as an example how to countersign, because this same destiny within its divine wisdom gave you the most important indicative – that of a GREAT FRIEND !
