ARAUCÁRIA DX GROUP
SOAB SOAB SO2R Operation
With indicative PT5T
Operated by CT1BOH - José Carlos
Dear friends:I was honored to receive our friend CT1BOH José Carlos, former member of Araucária Group for a SOAB operation from our Station in Curitiba, PR, Brazil.
The main objective, out of the competition aspect, was to optimize the use of all technology available for operation Single Op. Two Radios SO2R.
The station had the following configuration:
Radio 1 - FT 1000 MarckV + ACOM 2000 station Running
Radio 2 - FT 1000 D + ACOMAntenna with full share use: Stack Master WX0B
System 1 10m - Stack 7 on 7
System 2 - H 4 x 5 elements15m Stack 8 over 8
40 m Full size - 4 elements
80 m KLM - 4 elements
160 V inverted.
Chasing Antenna - TH11 Hy Gain located at 150m from the others SO2R operation was made by means of Box SO2R, full automatic XW0B fabrication.
All antenna with possibility of phase operation, out of phase and split power.
Each antenna of stack system has an independent rotor as to flexibilize simultaneous operations, in different directions.
Further to TH11, beverage antenna was available for reception.
The software used was CT of K1EA, version specially customized for SO2R.
For Propagation Prediction we used Miniprop W6EL and Wincap.
For comparative analysis with previous results and records, Jose used an Excell worksheet, extremely friendly, which may be used in another auxiliary computer as to visualize in real time.
Full contest was recorded in audio in radio 1 and 2. We also had partial image record of the operation.
Interference elimination between the two stations was possible through filters Dunestar and insulation of radiofrequence at the coaxial Hard Line.
Sharing antenna between radio 1 and 2 by Stack Master is automatic by K1EA, and/or by BAND DECODERS, which also make, automatically, the keying of antennas and the electric blockage for the antenna not to be used simultaneously by two radios.
Power supply, even in case of COPEL supply, is ensured by a NO BREAK - 10 KVA CAPACITY, what makes possible the 3-hour full operation of SO2R station, irrespective of commercial power supply.
COPEL, the local utility has given important support, for us to have almost 0 interference during the contest. Commonly, before the contest season, with help of our radiointerference locator, COPEL full eliminates such problem.
At Araucaria site some photos of the operation are made available.
Although the propagation was very bad for South hemisphere, in virtue of abnormal opening between North hemisphere (Europe and United States had open propagation practically in all bands during the 48 hours) our score was good because it is the South American Record in Land.
Our Claimed Score is as follows:
Our companion Jose CT1BOH performed a real show of SO2R operation and I was a priviledged expectator and a student of this modern individual practice.
Our compliments to Jose. I take the chance to congratulate all CW Brazilian operators who are improving participation of our country in amount and quality.
Greetings,
